Just a bit of fun
OK, now that grim stuff is out of the way…it’s the long weekend!
Yes, arguably the best holiday of the year (sun without the humidity, hot cross buns, Cave related religiosity) is upon us.
And in an effort to have some fun, Gen Z has emerged as an unlikely source of inspiration. The most uptight generation since the Victorians is seemingly embracing whimsy, including (checks notes) storing makeup in a wicker basket instead of in the drawer of a vanity? Never mind.
Elsewhere, a movement to replace scrolling with ‘unstructured play’ is taking off, with participants extolling the mental health benefits of having a bit of fun.
There are few better places to embrace the joys of leisure than Australia, with the country ranking as the seventh most fun country in the world. Unsurprisingly, Spain took the top spot of that particular list, proving that you really can’t go wrong with an afternoon nap and a chilled red wine cocktail.
Sydney’s fun bus has moved from a giant cake picnic to the Easter show.
Despite attempts to suck the fun out of the famous annual event by announcing a “smart showground with integrated payments and real-time visitor intelligence” (thoughts and prayers for the PR team pitching that one), the show will also feature gelato meat pies and a human cannonball.
If you can’t have fun with that, we don’t know what to tell you. Maybe try storing your makeup in a wicker basket?
