Who exactly is here to f*** spiders?

A study recently revealed which country swears the most online, and it’s caused some angst in Australia. 

ABC Radio Melbourne presenter, David Astle, called out his fellow Aussies for ranking behind Brits and Americans in the league table of profanities. 

No matter where you’re from or how often you swear, the interesting question is really how and where you choose to add some colour to language.

In the UK, a worker won an unfair dismissal claim after being fired for swearing because the judge ruled that dropping an f-bomb was a "common everyday experience, particularly in the North".

In Australia, a report claimed that swearing at work increased by 60 per cent in 2021. Presumably because people aren’t doing it enough online.

The use of profanity in corporate culture goes beyond dropping the odd obscenity on a video call. One of Atlassian’s values, for example, is “don't f*ck the customer”.

The Cave, however, never swears. Not because of some linguistic purity, but from fear of email filters blocking your opportunity to read the latest edition. We are, after all, not here to f*** spiders. Then again, who is?
